Dr. Poon graduated from Murdoch University in Australia in 2005 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. She also has a degree in Business from NTU (1998).

She worked in a busy small animal practice in Singapore before joining Island Vets. During this period, she took time off to obtain the Certificate of Veterinary Acupuncture from The Chi Institute, jointly awarded by the China National Society of TCVM, in 2009. She is a registered Veterinary Acupuncturist at The Chi Institute and is recognized by the IVAS.

Dr. Poon completed advanced acupuncture training in 2010. In addition, she attended Food Nutrition and Herbal classes conducted by The Chi Institute.

Dr. Poon has completed Sydney University’s CVE courses in Ophthalmology (2009) and Surgery (2010). She also attended various surgical workshops conducted by Improve International in Swindon, United Kingdom.

She has taken various courses on avian medicine and practice management and is continuing her interest in internal medicine by attending continuing education courses in Melbourne.

Lastly, she hopes to further her interest in complementary medicine by getting certified in canine rehabilitation in the near future.

Her primary interest lies in medicine, with an emphasis on integrating both conventional and Chinese medicine to achieve the best results.
